Grinpal appoints 50 youth contractors in Ventersdorp
Grinpal Energy Management was awarded a contract to install its revolutionary in-house smart meters in Tshing, a township in Ventersdorp, North West Province.
The first phase of the project consisted of the installation of one thousand and thirty eight (1038) meter displays, two hundred and sixty (260) pole top boxes, eleven (11) demand meters and eleven (11) cell concentrators.
In keeping with its values of social development of previously disenfranchised individuals and communities, Grinpal appointed fifty (50) local youth contractors. The youth contractors will be trained in the various aspects of the project including the installation of the meters, pole top boxes and cell concentrators.
Ventersdorp is a town situated in North West Province of South Africa. The town grew around a Dutch Reformed Church that was established in 1866. The town was named after Johannes Venter who owned the land the church was built on. The town's population is just two thousand (2000) while the nearby township of Tshing has a population of around fifteen thousand (15000).
The township of Tshing houses most of the town's black and coloured population.The Tshing Township has a diamond mine nearby: a town councilor owned it in the
early 1990s.
